The Jazz Journal has given The Darkening Blue a favorable review in a recent issue:

“Canniere shifts direction with his third release for Whirlwind, producing 10 original works inspired by the writings of poet Maria Rilke and the author Charles Bukowski. Beraha’s remarkably expressive vocals chanel the wistful dreaminess of Rilke’s words perfectly. The remaining instrumental compositions are diverse interpretations of Bukowski’s writings and showcase an impressive collaboration between Canniere’s ensemble of players with imaginative displays of virtuosic improvisation.
